BBR Button Board

For FIRST Tech Challenge and FRC

The driver station panel you design yourself.

Key pads, arcade buttons, knobs and screens, each on its own tile. Chain them in any order, snap them onto an openGrid board, and plug one USB cable into the Driver Station. Then tell each key which gamepad button to be: press it in the config app, pick a button, done.

A main module chained to three tiles: a WASD key cluster, three keys in a row and a rotary encoder
Main Module → MX4 RGB → MX3 RGB → Encoder. One cable between each.

No code on the robot

It is an ordinary game controller. Your OpMode reads it like a gamepad.

Both Driver Stations

32-button HID for FRC, or XInput for the FTC Driver Hub. One setting.

Set up in the browser

Bind a key by pressing it. No firmware to build, no config file.

Keys that relabel

A screen key shows INTAKE, then CLIMB. RGB keys follow robot state.

Pick your tiles

Every panel starts with a main module. Add tiles in any combination; the grid is the size of the printed case in 28 mm openGrid cells.

How it fits together

  1. Main module plugs into the Driver Station laptop over USB-C and appears as one game controller.
  2. Tiles chain off it on short six-way cables, in any order. Up to 31 on one chain.
  3. The config app runs in Chrome. Press a key, pick a button, done. The settings live on the main module, so a tile can be swapped without reconfiguring.
  4. Cases are 3D-printed and snap onto an openGrid board. The files are free on the docs site.
